Ramirez struggled to keep her emotions in check after joining the show shortly after her grandmother d1ed. Tom Selleck was a huge fan of her grandmother.

“I really wanted to say something to Tom about how’my grandmother was such a huge fan of yours,'” she says. “But I knew I wouldn’t be able to say anything without crying.” [I] didn’t want to look like a wuss at family dinner, but I couldn’t stop thinking about her.”

Ramirez claims that the welcoming nature of the cast and crew made her feel at ease on set.

“And it almost made me feel more at ease and calm, and I was able to take in the surroundings and the warmth and the fact that they welcomed me there.”
