Donnie Wahlberg just confirmed another familiar face will join him in Boston Blue. In a new Instagram post, the Blue Bloods star revealed that Bridget Moynahan – who played his on-screen sister Erin Reagan – will guest star in the series premiere and direct the episode.
“Reunited and it feels so good!” Wahlberg wrote. “So excited to have my dear friend and TV sister [Bridget Moynahan] join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of Boston Blue! More fun (and surprises) to come.”
Moynahan appeared in all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods as Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan. She joins Wahlberg as the second confirmed Blue Bloods alum to appear in the spinoff. Danny’s son Sean Reagan will also be part of the story, but the role has been recast – Mika Amonsen will now play Sean, replacing Andrew Terraciano. In the show, Danny follows Sean to Boston after Sean starts his career as a patrolman.
About Boston Blue
Announced in February 2025, Boston Blue follows a new law enforcement family, the Silvers, led by Reverend Peters (Ernie Hudson). Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan partners with Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), a rising star in the Boston Police Department. The cast also includes Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, and Gloria Reuben.
Directed by Anthony Hemingway, Boston Blue marks the first Blue Bloods spinoff. Production began shortly after the cast completed their first table read in July 2025.
