Why Blue Bloods star Marisa Ramirez Enjoys Collaborating With Donnie Wahlberg

Fans of “Blue Bloods” have seen Marisa Ramirez play Detective Maria Baez alongside Donnie Wahlberg’s Detective Danny Reagan as partners for several seasons, and there is no doubt about how the actress feels about working with her co-star throughout that time.

According to Deadline, the long-running police procedural “Blue Bloods” has been around since 2010 and continues to impress in terms of audience, with over a decade later, it can still average over ten million viewers per entry.

Fans have seen a lot happen with numerous characters, including Detective Maria Baez, throughout that time.

The Major Case squad member isn’t as daring as her colleague Danny Reagan, but that doesn’t make her any less effective.

Maria Baez undoubtedly contributes to the good-cop-bad-cop dynamic she shares with her partner, and the two have seen a lot of action over the years.

From shootouts to near-d3ath encounters, one of the New York Police Department’s finest pair of detectives rarely disappoints when they appear on screen, and despite not always seeing eye to eye, the two always manage to have each other’s back more often than not.

It’s no secret that the two characters get along well while serving justice in New York. While the duo’s work relationship on set is obviously very different from what Reagan and Baez encounter on the show, the actress’s feelings about working with Wahlberg shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The actress had nothing but positive things to say about working with Wahlberg.

While Marisa Ramirez has been a part of multiple high-rated films on Rotten Tomatoes for varied lengths of time, her longest commitment is unquestionably investigating cr1mes with Donnie Wahlberg on “Blue Bloods.” During that time, she developed a special bond with her co-star, which only grew stronger with time.

“Other positions I’ve held… I’ve been with this individual for three years or three months, but this is now… We’ve been together for eight years, and I believe our love has grown stronger this year,” Ramirez told Country Living in an interview.

The actress was very open about her feelings about working with the actor, telling the site, “We absolutely love each other… I’m so pleased to be working with him and to feel safe with someone who understands who I am, because I feel like I put my guard up around other actors, staff, or whatever, and this is a place where I can let it all hang out… It seems really safe and secure.” It looks that the two have had a positive experience working together on the show, which is one of the reasons why the actress has remained so committed to the project.

Ramirez has made it clear that if it weren’t for the scenes in “Blue Bloods” that she gets to shoot with Donnie Wahlberg, she wouldn’t be on the program. And if you thought they were just fictional pals on TV, think again. In addition to being partners in cr1me-fighting on TV, the actress has claimed the two are real-life pals, removing any concerns regarding Ramirez’s feelings for Donnie Wahlberg.

Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez are opposed to Danny and Maria’s romance.

From Mulder and Scully on “The X-Files” to Benson and Stabler on “Law & Order: SVU,” procedurals have a tendency to tease sparks between opposite-sex detective pairs. On “Blue Bloods,” Maria and Danny have had several amorous encounters over the years, and some fans would like to see them break their inhibitions and hook up. Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez, on the other hand, pray it never happens – and for good reason.

In an interview with The Talk, Wahlberg noted that their characters becoming romantically involved could result in unwelcome changes that would make the program less enjoyable for the actors. “On the show, Will Estes plays my younger brother, and Vanessa Ray plays his now-wife. And they started as partners, and once they got together and married, they stopped having scenes,” he stated. “So, if [Maria and Danny] start a relationship, we won’t have scenes together and then I’ll miss my friend.”

Later in the same interview, Ramirez echoed these thoughts, saying she’d regret working with her co-star if they stopped filming scenes together.
