Blue Bloods will be off the air for the rest of the year. However, the season will resume in 2022. This is when it will return, as well as the guest star who will appear in the new episode.

The cop show returned, telling even more stories about the Reagans. Bridget Moynahan’s character, Erin, is thinking about running for District Attorney. Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) continues to work with Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez), but in recent episodes, he has also collaborated with others such as Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schirripa).
Eddie (Vanessa Ray) experienced a major change when her partner left the job. Her new coworker has been difficult to work with, but Jamie (Will Estes) insists on their collaboration.
The most recent episode, “Firewall,” aired on December 10. In it, Baez and Danny were on the hunt for a murd3rer. The suspect fired at them, and one of the bullets grazed Baez. Fortunately, she arrived at the hospital. Given how things have changed, the entire episode showed Baez questioning her job. But she didn’t seem to be going anywhere by the end.
When will season 12 return in 2022?
The show is on hiatus for the holidays. According to IMDb, the next episode will air on January 7.
“Old Friends” is the title of the new episode. “An illegal drug shipment arriving in New York City forces Danny to team up with his Texas Ranger associate, Major Waylon Gates (Lyle Lovett), to find the narcotics before they flood the streets,” according to a press release from CBS. Also, while assisting a neighbor with a gambling debt, Jamie makes a concerning discovery about a former mentor, and Frank (Tom Selleck) faces criticism from Mayor Chase for his handling of a brawl between demonstrators and police officers at a protest.”
As a result, fans can expect a slew of special guests. It’s not clear who will play Jamie’s former mentor.
Another guest star will appear this season.
Lovett will reprise his role as Waylon Gates in the upcoming episode. The first time was in Season 10, when the Texas Ranger assisted Danny in apprehending a cr1m1nal.
Wahlberg previously revealed that he and Jimmy Buffett were filming an episode together in a photo. CBS also issued a press release about the episode “On the Arm.”
“After being duped into paying for the scammer’s meal at an expensive restaurant, Danny pursues Dickie Delaney (Jimmy Buffett), a con artist pretending to be the legendary singer Jimmy Buffett.”
Also, Frank investigates NYPD Captain Terrell (Regina Taylor), who is using her badge to get free goods from local stores; Erin is concerned about her reputation after being the subject of a salacious, anonymous police blog; and Jamie implements a decades-old saluting rule in the precinct,” according to the press release. The episode will air on January 14th.
