Tom Selleck, long the embodiment of Hollywood’s high life, has abandoned the glitz and glamour for a peaceful ranch life in Ventura, California. Selleck, best known for his role as Magnum PI, opted to leave the constant demands of show business in search of a more balanced life.
During his tenure on Magnum PI, Selleck worked grueling hours, often exceeding 90 hours a week, and shot movies during breaks, leading to exhaustion. This prompted his departure from the show after eight successful seasons, seeking what he termed a “three-dimensional life.”
When Selleck returns to his ranch, he prioritizes family time and enjoys the ranch lifestyle, finding peace in cultivating his avocado farm and doing menial work. The huge house, originally owned by Dean Martin, features Spanish-style colonial buildings, eight bedrooms, stables, a tennis court, and even a heliport.
Despite legal troubles over water theft during California’s drought, Selleck remains committed to his ranch life, a stark contrast to his Hollywood persona. His enduring career, spanning over four decades, includes iconic roles like Dr. Richard Burke on “Friends” and Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on “Blue Bloods.”
Selleck has found pleasure in a simpler, more grounded living after his departure from Hollywood, exemplifying the draw of ranch life over the flash of Tinseltown.
