The CBS series “Blue Bloods” is one of the network’s most successful shows, owing to the characters who have been with the show since the beginning. Even after a memorable “Blue Bloods” Season 12 finale, the Reagan family is home to some of the best TV characters.

While Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is the family’s heart, he is surrounded by relatives who are no strangers to the justice system.

Henry Reagan, played by Len Cariou, is the family patriarch and a former police commissioner.

Cariou returned to his roots a few years ago, putting together a Broadway show that combined Shakespeare with Broadway music, an idea he had 50 years before.

In an interview with KCAL9, he discussed “Broadway and the Bard” and revealed that the success of “Blue Bloods” had taken over his life. “The success of ‘Blue Bloods’ kind of took over my life at that time, seven, eight years ago,” Cariou admitted.

“In the middle of the third season, I realized, ‘Well, you know, I haven’t been singing very much, and I hadn’t done Shakespeare in a long time.'” ‘I think I’m going to put it together now.'”

Few television shows have lasted as long as “Blue Bloods,” but one person is unsurprised by its longevity: Cariou’s wife, Heather Summerhayes.

Cariou’s wife predicted that it would last ten years.

In an interview with TheAltWeb (via The Outsider), Len Cariou discusses working with Tom Selleck and playing his father, despite the fact that they are only a few years apart in age.

He says in the interview that he is having a great time working with him and that the veteran TV actor (who rose to fame on “Magnum P.I.” and as Richard on “Friends”) is unquestionably their brave leader.

He also revealed that, while he had reservations about the show, his wife had a premonition about how it would turn out. “This program,’ my wife said, ‘you’re going to get this role portraying Tom Selleck’s father, and it’ll run for 10 years,” Cariou explained.

“She made me laugh. First and foremost, Tom and I… Who will believe me if I say I’m Tom Selleck’s father? Our ages are only a few years apart.”

Of course, she was correct, and the network has continued to renew the show for more than a decade. Cariou may have to listen to his wife more often when choosing roles now that Season 13 of “Blue Bloods” is airing.

Actually, he may not need to look for a new role anytime soon, as “Blue Bloods” is still on the air. In fact, Selleck recently revealed in an interview with TV Insider that he is open to doing even more seasons. “I’ve got a mortgage,” he explained. “I’m game!”
