NCIS: Why was Diona Reasonover’s CBS Audition Postponed? The real reason for Kasie’s popularity is explained

Kasie Hines, star of NCIS, was forced to postpone her chance to impress CBS executives.

The majority of NCIS’s main cast has moved on in recent years, resulting in significant changes to the show’s cast. It wasn’t long after forensic scientist Abby Sciuto (played by Pauley Perrette) called it quits on the CBS cop drama that her replacement was announced.

Diona Reasonover joined the cast as chirpy Kasie Hines in season 15 and quickly became one of the show’s most beloved characters.

Prior to her breakout role as Kasie on NCIS, Reasonover appeared in a number of other shows in minor roles.

Clipped, 2 Broke Girls, The Night Watchmen, Grace and Frankie, Drive Share, and No Activity are a few examples. NCIS has been by far Reasonover’s biggest success to date, but getting the role wasn’t without its challenges.

While she aced her audition, the 30-year-old had to reschedule her one chance. Reasonover told the New York Post that when she was asked to audition for the show, she was actually suffering from a knee injury.

“I had gotten an e-mail that I had an audition [but] I couldn’t go in because I had knee surgery just two days before,” she explained.

“I’m on paink1llers and, like, ‘I don’t think I can drive.'”

“I went in later because the auditions were still going on.”

“At that point, I’d had physical therapy and was still using crutches, but I was moving much better.”

Reasonover was still recovering from her injury when filming began.

However, the NCIS cast and crew were on hand to offer any assistance they could to the actress.

She stated to KTLA 5: “When I walked onto the set, everyone was so gracious and generous.

“I had just had knee surgery, so I was walking like a baby deer.

“Everyone was bringing me ice packs and greeting me; it was very nice.”

When NCIS returns for season 20, fans may see a lot more of Kasie.

With a potential Kasie-centric episode on the way, showrunner Steve Binder teased that there could be love in the air for the forensic scientist.

“We’re dabbling potentially with her having a significant other, we’ll see where that goes,” Binder told TVLine.

“We used to do Abby-centric stories fairly frequently, or at least on a regular basis.”

“It’s been a while since we’ve done a Kasie story, and I think we’re going to have something fun for her coming up that may or may not involve her relationship,” Binder added.

“We’ll see where the story or that character takes us, but I think season 20 is going to be a season where everyone gets a chance to shine, have their own episodes, and have them be pretty powerful.”
