As NCIS Season 22 wraps up, CBS has officially renewed the series for Season 23. CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach praised the show’s lasting appeal, saying, “These returning shows represent a mix of long-standing hits and a new generation of fan favorites.”
While plot details are being kept under wraps, all current cast members are expected to return. This is a shift from Season 21’s uncertainty when Katrina Law’s character, Jessica Knight, considered a job transfer.
However, the Season 22 finale teases some character futures hanging in the balance. The synopsis reveals: “As NCIS investigates a connection between the Nexus cartel and Parker’s nemesis, mob boss Carla Marino, the team uncovers a high-stakes plot involving stolen nuclear material. Parker faces an uneasy alliance that could change everything.”
Diona Reasonover, who plays forensic scientist Kasie Hines, hinted at bigger story arcs: “Fans have been craving more long-form storytelling. You’re going to get it.”
Beyond the flagship series, the NCIS universe is expanding. CBS renewed NCIS: Sydney and announced NCIS: Origins, while Paramount+ is launching TONY & ZIVA, following fan favorites Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David as they navigate life, challenges, and parenthood post-NCIS.
“There’s a constant balance between adventure and parenting,” said Michael Weatherly. Cote de Pablo added, “Every choice Tony and Ziva make keeps their child front and center.”
With four NCISverse shows returning or debuting, fans have plenty to look forward to this fall – after a long summer wait.
