In a surprising and exciting twist for NCIS fans, it looks like season 23 may be coming sooner than expected.
Although CBS hasn’t released an official premiere date, fans were thrilled to learn back in February that the long-running drama was renewed. Now, thanks to a behind-the-scenes Instagram post from lighting tech Nicholas Aiello, it’s confirmed – production on NCIS season 23 is officially underway.
“Day 1 of NCIS season 23 😁,” Aiello captioned a set photo on July 7. The post sparked instant excitement among fans, with comments flooding in: “Time to get busy!!!” and “Let’s GO!”
While it may still be a little while before new episodes hit the screen, this production update is the best news fans have had in months.
And that’s not all. The NCIS universe is expanding this fall with NCIS: Origins season 2 returning to CBS, and the highly anticipated NCIS: Tony and Ziva spinoff – starring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo – premiering September 4, 2025 on Paramount+.
There’s plenty for NCIS fans to look forward to!
