NCIS season 18 release date, cast, trailer, plot: When is NCIS out on CBS?

NCIS season 18 has now been confirmed by CBS. But when is the new series released?

NCIS has finally been renewed for season 18 by CBS following the end of the 17th outing last month on the network. Ahead of its launch, here’s everything you need to know about the new series, including its cast, trailer and plot.

When is NCIS season 18 released on CBS?

NCIS season 18 has now been officially renewed by CBS after fans have been eagerly awaiting any news.

The renewal comes alongside that of the show’s spin-offs NCIS LA and NCIS New Orleans.

The 17th season of NCIS came to an end on April 14, four episodes early after production was shut down following the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.

Therefore, viewers have been patiently waiting to see whether the show will be returning again.

Now this has been confirmed by CBS who just announced the future of all of their shows.

An exact release date has not been confirmed yet but the show does usually air every September on CBS.

However, this is of course dependent on whether the latest series will be able to begin filming again soon.

As soon as any more is revealed about when the show will be back on screens, Express.co.uk will update this article.

Who is in the cast of NCIS season 18 on CBS?

All of the major stars of NCIS are expected to be returning for the new outing of the show.

This includes lead actor Mark Harmon who has played Agent Leroy Gibbs on the series since it began.

According to Deadline, Harmon has now secured a new deal for the series, which will see him return.

As well as Harmon, other returning cast members include Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Emily Wickersham as Ellie Bishop, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Maria Bello as Jack Sloane.

Other stars like Brian Dietzen, Diona Reasonover, Rocky Carroll and David McCallum are also all expected back.

What will happen in NCIS season 18?

Very little is known about what will happen in season 18 as the show finished before it was intended with series 17.

This means any planned cliffhanger the show was going to end on was not shown.

However, the showrunner of the show has teased a few storylines which will be on their way in the new outing.

Frank Cardea told TV Line how their 400th episode will be the second episode of season 18.

He also revealed that the outing has “a very interesting script” by co-showrunner Steven D Binder “about how Gibbs and Ducky met.”

Cardea also told the publication how while season 17 was not initially going to end with a cliffhanger, they will be continuing with their planned ending in some respects.

He added: “The envisioned season finale did not have a cliffhanger ending but was planned to have a very surprising ending. More of a reveal/development, as you phrased it.

“We do plan to go forward with that episode in the early part of Season 18, but will probably reevaluate the ending when the time comes.”

There are some other storylines still lingering in the show which need answers.

This includes whether Bishop will be following in Ziva David’s (Cote de Pablo) footsteps as well as what is next for Gibbs and Sloane in terms of potential romance.

Is there a trailer for NCIS season 18?

No, there is no trailer yet for NCIS season 18 as it has only just been renewed.

Trailers for new series are usually released about a month before they are released.

However, CBS only dropped a first look at season 17 a few weeks before it aired last September.

Therefore, it seems like fans might be waiting a while to see what happens next on the show.

NCIS season 18 is expected to return to CBS later this year.
