Before landing his role in Suits LA, Stephen Amell revealed on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum that he auditioned for NCIS Origins, a prequel to the hit CBS series NCIS. Amell was in the running for the lead role of a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, but the part ultimately went to Austin Stowell.
Despite receiving excellent comments, Amell expressed dissatisfaction when the offer fell through, resulting in a breakdown just two days before his audition for Suits LA. However, he put his emotions into his performance, which helped him get the role of Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who now represents wealthy clients in Los Angeles.
Amell also admitted to feeling like a “pariah” after controversial remarks about the strike but was relieved when NBC proceeded with hiring him. He teased that Suits LA has a unique feel, with a great hook at the end of the first episode.
