“NCIS: Los Angeles” The Show’s Creator Reveals The Strategy For Having Hetty Return

If you watch NCIS: Los Angeles, you’ll notice that Linda Hunt doesn’t appear on the show very often. On the show, she plays the fantastic Hetty Lange, and her character, of course, has a deep connection with G. Callen, played by Chris O’Donnell.

This season, we’ll see Callen marry Anna, played by Bar Paly, and he’d like to have Hetty there. But she’s been on assignment in Syria and hasn’t been around much. That has been mentioned in the show’s plots. Nonetheless, there was some concern about her health during the C0V1D 19 pand3mic. Hunt is, after all, 77 years old.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Showrunner Reveals Linda Hunt Information

She would be unable to appear on the show’s set, and her scenes would be shot at her home in the Los Angeles area. This was done in order to keep her safe and away from other people. There was a new C0V1D concern, to be sure. The showrunner discussed it, as well as what plans are in the works to bring Hunt back into the show.

“The plan,” R. Scott Gemmill, showrunner, tells TVLine, “is to go and rescue her at some point, find out what she’s gotten herself into.” We’re just trying to figure out when we’ll be able to do it. That was the plan last year as well, but it didn’t work out. We had a [C0V1D variant] surge, but things appear to be settling down. Hopefully, nothing new will emerge, and we will be able to do so this year.”

Chris O’Donnell Discussed Acting Scenes With Hetty

When Season 14 premieres, viewers will be able to see Callen consider his wedding because “he realizes he has unfinished business, and wouldn’t want to get married without Hetty present.” Lange is Callen’s adoptive mother, and he knows she’ll be there for the big moment.

So, how does it feel to work on scenes with Hunt? O’Donnell happened to mention it during an interview. “Some of the scenes with Linda Hunt… she’s such an amazing actress you don’t know what to expect,” he explained in an interview with Studio 10. “I read the script and read the scene aloud, but she has such a way with English and the way words roll off her tongue that it’s never what I expect.” He would also include this. “It’s an exhilarating experience to be there face to face with her,” the star said. One thing is certain. That show benefits greatly from having Hunt on it on a regular basis.
