Fans of NCIS are finally getting the return they’ve been waiting for – Emily Wickersham is back as Ellie Bishop.
The character, a former NSA analyst turned NCIS agent, was last seen in 2021 when she left the team for a secret CIA mission after sharing a memorable goodbye kiss with Nick Torres. Now, nearly five years later, Bishop will reappear in the March 3 episode.
Wickersham revealed that the opportunity to return came when the show’s team simply asked her to reprise the role. She said coming back felt natural because the set and cast are so familiar to her, making the reunion especially meaningful.
However, Bishop’s return will not be a simple one. In the new storyline, she is reportedly wanted for cyberterr0rism, and Jessica Knight is assigned to track her down. Early previews suggest the situation will be complicated, particularly as Torres becomes caught in the middle.
The actress also hinted that Bishop has changed significantly since leaving NCIS. Much like Wickersham’s own life – which now includes motherhood – the character has experienced major developments during her time away, giving her a new layer of complexity.
Although the episode may not answer every lingering question, Wickersham says fans can expect an emotional reunion and some fallout from Bishop’s sudden return.
