Michael Weatherly’s Return is Possible, According to NCIS Boss

NCIS has gone through some major cast changes over the course of its 19 seasons on the air, but Tony DiNozzo’s departure has stayed with fans ever since.

Michael Weatherly left NCIS in 2016 and went on to star in Bull.

The legal drama concludes its run on Thursday, May 26, and fans are wondering if Weatherly will return to NCIS.

NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder revealed in an interview with TV Insider that he is open to the idea of a Weatherly encore.

“I would absolutely love to do something like that,” he told the outlet.

“That will be determined by Michael Weatherly.”

“He and I had talked about it over the years, and he was always on Bull, and [since] he was on Bull, it just seemed strange and not right.”

“The last conversation I had with him was that he’s going to take some time off and rest because he went from a very difficult schedule on NCIS to headlining his own show for six years, through C0V1D, but I can say that he’s a friend, so it’s not a difficult conversation to have with him.”

“It’s just a matter of whether it works out.”

Cote de Pablo returned as Ziva David during the NCIS Season 16 finale, sh0cking fans who had been led to believe the character was d3ad.

With Mark Harmon leaving NCIS this season, there has been speculation about whether other former stars might return to help ease the pain of such a significant loss.

Season 19 of NCIS has taken a very different path without Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Tony would almost certainly have a lot to say about the significant changes to the team since his departure.

We do know that NCIS has been renewed for Season 20, so there is still time for potential comebacks.

What are your thoughts on Michael Weatherly returning..?
