Michael Weatherly is Reportedly in Talks To Return To NCIS

Former NCIS star Michael Weatherly is said to be in talks to return to the long-running CBS show.

The actor, who played Tony DiNozzo from 2003 to 2016, is in talks with the drama’s producers about a possible return.

According to the publication, while the show’s executives want Michael to return, they are “balking” at his insistence on bringing back his co-star Cote de Pablo, who played his TV love interest Ziva David, as well as his on-screen father, Robert Wagner.

Michael has been dropping major hints about his possible return and reunion with Cote in recent months, leading fans to believe that he will reprise his role soon.

What has Michael Weatherly said about his plans to return to NCIS?

Michael hinted at a Tony and Ziva reunion in a Twitter comment on a reflective post from New Year’s Day earlier this year. “Happy New Year!” read the tweet. It’s time to stop looking at the clock and enjoy the moment!”

“We all would rather look at you and Ziva reuniting and enjoying that moment,” one fan wrote in the comments, prompting Michael to respond, “Stay tuned… for this might be an interesting year for such’moments’!”

He also hinted at his return to the drama in May of last year. The 54-year-old took to Twitter to share a TV Insider article titled “NCIS: Will Michael Weatherly Return for a Guest Spot With ‘Bull’ Ending?” “End of @BullCBS tonight, I’m reflecting on 22 years of TV,” he captioned the post. It’s been a fantastic experience working with thousands of actors and hundreds of directors on Dark Angel and @NCIS_CBS. I’m taking some time to reflect on everything. And, of course, the question: @tvinsider.”

Furthermore, following the cancellation of NCIS: Los Angeles, there has been speculation about a possible spin-off series starring both Michael and Cote.

CBS has yet to make an announcement about Michael’s return, but we will keep you updated.

Is Mark Harmon coming back to NCIS?

Another former NCIS star who fans would like to see return is Mark Harmon, who played Agent Leroy Gibbs for 19 seasons.

In a recent interview with TV Insider, Mark’s friend and co-star Rocky Carroll addressed the possibility of a comeback. “We might see Gibbs again,” he speculated. “I believe that as long as this show is on the air, there will always be a hint that we might see Gibbs again.”

Showrunner Steven D. Binder expressed his desire for Mark’s return as well, telling TV Insider, “I don’t see how we don’t see him one more time at some point.”
