Michael Weatherly Hints He ‘Would Love’ This Fan-Favorite Actor to Return for ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’

Fans can’t get enough of NCIS: Tony and Ziva, the Paramount+ spinoff that reunites Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo as the beloved Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David. With the first season wrapping up on October 23, viewers are already eager for more – even though the series hasn’t yet been renewed for season 2.
While the future of the show remains uncertain, Michael Weatherly already has big dreams for potential guest stars. During an interview with TV Insider at New York Comic-Con earlier this month, he revealed exactly who he’d love to see pop up in Tony and Ziva – and his answer delighted longtime NCIS fans.
“I’ll start with Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs,” Weatherly said in a video posted on October 15. “I would love to just be walking down the street with Tali [played by Isla Gie], and this man coming the other way just gives Tony a head slap – completely out of nowhere. And then Tony just goes, ‘Thank you, boss,’ and keeps walking. And Tali goes, ‘Why did that man just hit you in the back of the head?’ And it’s like, ‘We used to work together.’”
The clip sent fans into a frenzy online, thrilled by the idea of Gibbs making a surprise appearance.
“LEROY JETHRO GIBBS!!!!! ❤️❤️,” one fan gushed. Another added, “Oh yes, please!” while a third commented, “That would be amazing – make it happen!”
The last time Tony and Gibbs shared the screen was back in NCIS season 13 in 2016. Nearly a decade later, the thought of seeing them together again has reignited fans’ nostalgia and hopes for a reunion.
Now all that’s left is for Paramount+ to make it official – renew NCIS: Tony and Ziva for season 2 and let this dream crossover happen!
