John Nolan, the veteran British actor and uncle of filmmakers Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, has died at the age of 87.
According to reports, Nolan passed away on Saturday. Over a career spanning nearly six decades, he built an extensive body of work across film, television, and theater.
Nolan appeared in several of Christopher Nolan’s films, including Following, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dunkirk. He was also known to television audiences for his recurring role as former MI6 agent John Greer in the CBS series Person of Interest, appearing in multiple seasons.
Born in London on May 22, 1938, Nolan was also a respected stage actor. He performed with both the Royal Court Company and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and later directed productions and taught acting.
His screen career began in the late 1960s, with early roles in series such as The Prisoner and Doomwatch. He went on to appear in numerous television programs and films throughout his life, with his final on-screen role coming in 2024.
John Nolan is survived by his wife, Kim Hartman, their two children, and grandchildren. He is remembered for his long and versatile career in the performing arts.
