Jackie Curatola, Played By Jennifer Esposito, Will Return For the Season 13 Finale of Blue Bloods

Now that the perennial police procedural drama “Blue Bloods” has been renewed for a 14th season, excitement for the Season 13 finale is building. Although the plot of the finale is unknown, TVLine confirms that Jennifer Esposito, a familiar face from the show’s early seasons, will return after an 11-year absence.

Esposito previously claimed that “Blue Bloods” producers dropped her in 2012 due to ongoing health concerns. However, it appears that things have been resolved as the actress will reprise her role as Det. Jackie Curatola, reuniting her with former partner Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). Curatola, according to TVLine, is now a chief of police and comes in to assist Danny and Det. Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) in their search for a murd3rer.

The return of “The Boys” star to the long-running drama will allow fans to relive a bygone era for the show, but another former character will also appear in the 13th Season finale.

Sami Gayle will also reprise her role as Nicky Reagan-Boyle.

In the same article, TVLine revealed that Sami Gayle, who last appeared on “Blue Bloods” in 2020, will return as Nicky Reagan-Boyle, Erin Reagan’s (Bridget Moynahan) daughter. Despite Jennifer Esposito’s departure from the show in Season 3, Gayle remained a recurring character on the show for the first ten seasons as part of the larger Reagan family cast of characters, frequently adding numerous compelling mother-daughter scenes between Nicky and Erin.

Gayle’s long absence from the show, according to series showrunner Kevin Wade, was not intentional; it was simply part of the narrative that Nicky had gone off to attend university in San Francisco, which took her out of the main action of the series. He didn’t reveal anything about what the character will do in the Season 13 finale, but he did hint that she would be brought back for a Reagan family dinner.
