Phil Robertson, ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star, Passes Away at 79

Phil Robertson, the founder of Duck Commander and star of the reality show Duck Dynasty, has died at the age of 79. His daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, confirmed his death with a heartfelt statement:

“We rejoice today that our grandfather, husband, and father, Phil Robertson, is with the Lord,” Korie said. “Thank you to all who have supported us with prayer. His strong faith and message of grace touched countless lives.”

The cause of death has not been confirmed, though Robertson’s son, Jase, shared in December that his father was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. It’s unclear if this contributed to his passing.

Phil Robertson founded Duck Commander, a company specializing in duck calls and hunting gear. His love for hunting and his Christian faith became the core of Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017 and followed the Robertson family’s business and values.

In 2013, Robertson sparked controversy for remarks about homosexuality during an interview with GQ magazine, leading to a brief suspension from the show. A&E later resumed filming with the full family.

The Robertson family plans a private service and will announce details of a public memorial soon.

“We know Phil touched many lives,” the family said. “We look forward to celebrating his legacy with everyone who loved him.”
