Donnie Wahlberg Delights Fans with Exciting Blue Bloods Spin-Off Announcement

Blue Bloods may have ended in December 2024, but fans won’t have to wait long for more Reagan family drama. CBS’s new spinoff, Boston Blue, premieres October 17 – and it’s bringing back some familiar faces.
Bridget Moynahan will join Donnie Wahlberg in the premiere episode, reprising her role as Erin Reagan alongside Donnie’s Danny Reagan. Wahlberg confirmed the reunion on Instagram, sharing a photo from set and writing, “Reunited and it feels so good! So excited to have my dear friend and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of #BostonBlue!”
He also revealed that Moynahan will be directing episodes of the new series. “She’ll also be bringing her incredible directing talents to the show this season! More fun (and surprises) to come,” he teased.
Moynahan responded, “So excited to be part of this old and new family!!! @donniewahlberg @cbstv.”
The series follows Danny as he transfers to the Boston Police Department and partners with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green). The Silver family will play a central role, led by Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters and Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, Boston’s District Attorney and family matriarch.
Meanwhile, Mika Amonsen joins the cast as Danny’s son Sean, taking over from Andrew Terraciano as the character begins his own journey into law enforcement.
While Boston Blue marks a new chapter, the Reagan family ties – and the spirit of Blue Bloods – clearly live on.
