Do Marisa Ramirez and Donnie Wahlberg Have a Friendship Outside of Blue Bloods

When it comes to law enforcement in New York City, the cast of “Blue Bloods” represents a wide range of personality types (and job designations).

The sitcom, which follows the Reagans, an Irish-American law enforcement family that includes beat officers, commissioners, lawyers, and hard-boiled detectives, stars Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, a seasoned investigator in the NYPD who is completely dedicated to the law. The character can be abrasive at times, but this is due to years of experience, wisdom, and job trauma.

Marisa Ramirez plays Detective Maria Baez, and she is one of the main cast members that does not have the same surname as everyone else after Season 3.

This means she is frequently (though not always!) absent from the Reagans’ Sunday family dinners. However, because she is a detective, she has plenty of time to engage with Danny, and they both receive an NYPD Medal of Valor for their combined deeds at one point.

Given the friendship between these two characters on “Blue Bloods,” fans have frequently wondered if that affection exists when the cameras aren’t rolling.

When Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez first met, they became instant friends

Fortunately for “Blue Bloods” fans, it appears that both Wahlberg and Ramirez have poured praise on each other on multiple occasions. In an interview with The Talk, Wahlberg mentioned that Will Estes’ character married his partner in the context of “Blue Bloods,” but they no longer have any scenes together since then – and as a result, Wahlberg joked that he doesn’t want his character getting involved with Baez because it means they won’t see each other anymore, and he would miss his friend.

One of The Talk’s hosts then questioned if the two ever got the giggles during dramatic moments, to which the two actors glanced at each other and immediately began giggling, demonstrating that they truly like working together.

In a separate interview with PopCulture, Ramirez was asked what it was like to take on the role of Baez and if she was intimidated by it, to which she replied, “Fortunately, Donnie was so welcoming and we just hit it off from day one and have developed such a friendship from that moment till now.”

According to Wahlberg and Ramirez’s comments, they are in fact quite close in real life, and their chemistry on “Blue Bloods” is a direct result of their off-screen friendship.
