It’s Official: Bridget Moynahan Joins Donnie Wahlberg in Boston Blue – Blue Bloods Reunion Sparks Buzz

Bridget Moynahan is returning to the Reagan family – this time in Boston Blue, the highly anticipated Blue Bloods spinoff. The 54-year-old actress will reprise her role as Erin Reagan with a guest appearance in the premiere episode. She’s also set to direct an episode during Season 1.

Boston Blue follows Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) as he relocates from New York to join the Boston Police Department. Wahlberg shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo with Moynahan and writing, “Reunited and it feels so good! So excited to have my dear friend and TV sister join me… Let’s go! 💙❤️”

The cast also includes Sonequa Martin-Green as Danny’s new partner, Detective Lena Silver, alongside Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Gloria Reuben, and Ernie Hudson. Mika Amonsen will take over the role of Sean Reagan – Danny’s son – who moves to Boston and becomes a patrolman, replacing Andrew Terraciano after 14 seasons.

Blue Bloods ended its original run in December after 14 seasons on CBS. Wahlberg marked the finale with an emotional message to fans, thanking them for their unwavering support: “Of all the memories… your set visits will be something I’ll cherish forever.”

Tom Selleck, 80, who played family patriarch Frank Reagan, voiced his disappointment over the cancellation. “I’m kind of frustrated,” he told TV Insider, noting the show’s consistent success. “It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out.” Still, he remains open to future roles, especially in Westerns.

Wahlberg admitted that accepting the end of Blue Bloods wasn’t easy. “It was heavy,” he told Fox News Digital. “But if I’m really sincere about wanting Blue Bloods to carry on, here’s an opportunity to do it.”

Though Danny is now in a new city, Wahlberg assured fans the spirit of the Reagan family will live on. “If he’s a Reagan, it will never be just Danny. There’ll always be a Reagan a phone call away.”
