Blue Bloods: Will Robert Clohessy Come Back as Sid Gormley on Season 14..?

Season 14 of Blue Bloods has been plagued with casting speculations. There were fears that CBS will remove supporting cast members to save money, but actors Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and Bridget Moynahan have assured that this will not be the case.

The long-running cop drama will feature all of the same cast members from previous seasons, if they remain on the show. This features veteran officer Sidney Gormley, played by Robert Clohessy. The character first appeared in season one and has since grown to become one of the most trusted and loyal members of Commissioner Reagan’s (Selleck’s) inner circle.

Is Blue Bloods star Robert Clohessy departing..?

What is surprising is that Clohessy was almost a one-and-done figure. He was brought in for a one episode appearance in season one, but his chemistry with the rest of the ensemble was so strong that the showrunners opted to keep him and increase Gormley’s character.

Clohessy told Main Street Mag, “I was originally cast for one show to be Danny’s boss in the precinct.” “We got along really well on set and, before long, I was part of the regular cast.” Clohessy has made a career out of playing officers onscreen, so it makes natural that the show would want to keep him around.

He’s worn a badge as Officer Patrick Flaherty in Hill Street Blues (1981-87), as Officer Sean Murphy in the critically acclaimed HBO series Oz (1997-2003), and even as a police sergeant in the MCU film The Avengers (2012).

He also played a cop in the 2011 comedies Arthur and Tower Heist. Clohessy certainly has what it takes to project authority, and we’re thrilled he’ll be back on Blue Bloods in season 14 with his distinct screen presence.
