Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck & Bridget Moynahan Pay Tribute to Costar Treat Williams After His D3ath: ‘We Lost a Good One’

Blue Bloods’ cast is paying tribute to their late co-star Treat Williams, who d1ed in a motorcycle accident on Monday at the age of 71.

In real life, Williams was a close friend of Tom Selleck, who plays New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on the long-running CBS cr1me drama.

“It has been said that we are all just passing the time and occupy our chairs very briefly,” Selleck, 78, said in a statement to PEOPLE. “My friend Treat was aptly named and did an excellent job in his chair. I’ll miss him, but I’ll never forget him. Congratulations, my friend.”

Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan on the show, called Williams a “actor’s actor” who was a “absolute pleasure” to work with.

“He was a role model off screen as well,” Moynahan, 52, told PEOPLE in a statement. “Everyone could admire his love and devotion to his family.” We’ve lost a good one, people. Treat, rest in peace.”

Vanessa Ray, who plays Eddie Janko-Reagan, remembered Williams fondly, sharing an Instagram story about him.

“The first time I worked with Treat on @bluebloods_cbs at family dinner, he found out I was in Hair on Broadway,” Ray wrote on Instagram. “I called myself the ‘Frank Mills’ girl.” He began to sing. He knew every single word. No, I did not. What a brilliant, kind, and lovely artist. “Rest now, Berger.”

Williams, who played the recurring role of Lenny Ross on Blue Bloods, shared several photos from the show’s set on social media prior to his d3ath.

In August 2021, he shared a photo of himself with Selleck on the set of the CBS drama. “Thank you, Tom Selleck and #Bluebloods, it’s always a pleasure to work with you.” “Two old pros,” he captioned the photograph.

Barry McPherson, Williams’ 15-year agent, confirmed his d3ath to PEOPLE on Monday, describing the “talented” actor as “the nicest guy.”

“He was an actor’s actor,” said McPherson. “Moviemakers adored him. Since the late 1970s, he has been the beating heart of Hollywood.”

On Monday, Williams was riding his motorcycle near his Vermont home when he was hit by a car on Route 30 near Dorset, Vermont, according to Fire Chief Jacob Gribble. Investigators believe the driver of a car was turning and didn’t see Williams’ motorcycle before the two collided, according to Gribble.

The actor suffered “critical injuries” and was airlifted to an Albany, New York, hospital, where he was pronounced d3ad. The investigation is still ongoing, according to police.

Many of Williams’ friends and co-stars, including Gregory Smith, Laura Dern, Marilu Henner, Jonathan Bennett, Sarah Drew, Melissa Gilbert, Wendell Pierce, and Kim Cattrall, have paid tribute to the actor on social media in the aftermath of his d3ath.
