Which ‘Blue Bloods’ Stars Have Returned for ‘Boston Blue’ – And How They Made Their Comeback

When Boston Blue was first announced, fans immediately hoped it would reunite Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan with his Blue Bloods family. Wahlberg played coy, teasing in a June interview with Fox News Digital:
“Now, it’s just Danny going to this new world, but I can’t say a lot about it – but I could say, if he’s a Reagan, it will never be just Danny. There’ll always be a Reagan a phone call away.”
After 14 seasons, Blue Bloods wrapped in December 2024, closing the chapter on the Reagan family’s law enforcement dynasty in New York City. But the story didn’t end there – it just moved north.
Premiering October 17 on CBS, Boston Blue follows Danny as he relocates to Boston after his youngest son, Sean (Mika Amonsen), is severely injured in a fire. Sean, now a Boston police officer, had left New York due to a hiring freeze – and Danny’s protective instincts lead him straight to his son’s bedside.
Although Danny’s miles away from the rest of the Reagans, they’re never far from his heart – or the screen.
Familiar Faces Return
Marisa Ramirez (Maria Baez)
Fans finally got their long-awaited answer about Danny and Baez’s romantic future. The Blue Bloods finale hinted at a possible relationship, and Boston Blue wasted no time confirming it. The premiere opened with Danny shirtless and Baez lounging in bed, teasing him: “It’s your phone, smart ass.” Their cozy moment is cut short by the call about Sean’s accident – setting the stage for Danny’s emotional journey.
Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan)
Erin makes a heartfelt appearance in Boston, refusing to let her brother face tragedy alone. “I’m pretty sure I said nobody needed to come,” Danny protests. Erin’s reply? “Since when have I ever listened to you?” She stays until Sean wakes up, even sharing a quiet “Reagan Sunday dinner” with Danny at the hospital – a touching nod to the family tradition fans loved.
With Boston Blue airing Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, Wahlberg’s new series offers everything Blue Bloods fans crave – emotional family ties, gritty police work, and the unmistakable heart of a Reagan story that’s far from over.
