Confirmed! Blue Bloods Stars Who Are Joining the ‘Boston Blue’ Spinoff

After 14 incredible seasons, Blue Bloods said goodbye in December 2024 – leaving both fans and cast members heartbroken. But the Reagan legacy isn’t over just yet. CBS’ highly anticipated spin-off, Boston Blue, is almost here, ready to continue the family’s story with familiar faces and fresh beginnings.
Set to premiere Friday, October 17, Boston Blue follows Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) as he trades New York City for Boston, starting a new chapter in law enforcement. Without his family close by, Danny faces new challenges on and off the job – but Wahlberg promises fans it’ll be worth the wait.
“So excited to carry on the tradition,” Wahlberg wrote on Instagram. “To share surprises, answer unanswered questions, and welcome all of you to #BostonBlue. The next chapter in the #BlueBloods legacy begins.”
Returning Blue Bloods Characters
Danny Reagan – Donnie Wahlberg
Front and center once again, Wahlberg leads the new series as Danny Reagan embarks on a fresh start in Boston. Expect the same grit, heart, and intensity that made him a fan favorite.
Erin Reagan – Bridget Moynahan
Danny’s sister Erin is confirmed to appear in the premiere episode. While it’s unclear if she’ll have a recurring role, her presence ties Boston Blue directly to the original series. Moynahan previously admitted the cast was “disappointed” by Blue Bloods’ cancellation, adding: “We’ve had such a good time. It’s a real loss.”
Sean Reagan – Mika Amonsen
Danny’s son Sean joins the Boston Police Department, which may explain Danny’s move north. Actor Mika Amonsen (from Whistle) will take over the role from Andrew Terraciano.
Possible Cameos and Future Appearances
Several Blue Bloods stars have hinted they might appear down the line. Wahlberg teased that Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) could visit his big brother, and Vanessa Ray (Eddie Janko-Reagan) said she’d “do anything” to reunite with her co-stars – even if it means playing a different character.
Even Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan) hasn’t ruled out returning, telling Parade he’s “open to suggestions.”
With Boston Blue gearing up to debut, fans can look forward to a fresh yet familiar story — one that keeps the Reagan spirit alive.
