Julian McMahon, the Australian actor known for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and the Fantastic Four films, has died at 56 following a private battle with cancer.
His wife, Kelly, confirmed the news in a statement to Deadline on July 4, revealing he passed away peacefully on July 2 in Clearwater, Florida. “Julian loved life, his family, his friends, his work, and his fans,” she said. “His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.” She asked for privacy as the family mourns and thanked supporters for their love and memories.
Born in Sydney on July 27, 1968, McMahon was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Billy McMahon. He began his career as a model before transitioning to acting in 1989 with the soap The Power, the Passion. He later moved to the U.S., landing roles on Another World and Profiler before breaking out as Christian Troy on FX’s Nip/Tuck, earning a Golden Globe nomination.
He played Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, and starred as Jess LaCroix in CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted from 2020 to 2022.

McMahon’s final screen role was in Netflix’s 2025 murd3r mystery series The Residence, where he portrayed the Prime Minister of Australia-a role that echoed his father’s real-life legacy.
Dorian Gregory, McMahon’s co-star on Charmed, called him “kind, warm, witty, and beautifully talented,” adding, “His presence will be missed.”
