Following the announcement that their beloved series, NCIS: Los Angeles, will end after the current season concludes this spring, the cast is reflecting on 14 years of memories.
LL Cool J, Daniella Ruah, and Chris O’Donnell are among the current cast members who have been with the show since its inception in 2009. Others, like Eric Christian Olsen, joined only a year later. As a result, they have spent a large portion of their careers with the franchise and with each other.
With so many emotions and friendships formed over the years, the cast members have taken to social media to express their feelings about their departure. Despite the heartbreak, they’ve all expressed gratitude for having spent so long with one series.
“So many emotions to process and so many words to say,” Ruah wrote on Instagram on January 20. “I’ll save them for a later time… I’m so thankful to be a part of the NCISLA family. Because of all of you, the show has lasted this long.”

On January 20, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach announced that the actors would receive the “big sendoff they and their fans deserve” on May 14th. Man was taken aback by the news, especially after the historic cross-over event that drew epic ratings earlier this month.
Nonetheless, both fans and cast members recognize that all good things must come to an end. And, as LL Cool J mentioned on Instagram yesterday, it’s always better for a series to end before it becomes stale.
“After 14 seasons, now is the perfect time to finish @ncisla on top of our game!!!” he wrote after learning of the crossover’s success. “I am looking forward to continuing my fruitful collaboration with @cbstv.”
LL also stated that he has big plans in the works that he will share with fans soon.
Aside from the original series, which has been on the air since 2003, NCIS: Los Angeles is the franchise’s longest-running show. Its sister series, NCIS: Hawaii, appears to be in its second season, and a new series, NCIS: Sydney, is set to premiere later this year. As a result, the franchise should be around for a long time.
However, this does not make the ending any less bittersweet for the cast and crew.
“What a fantastic journey we all had,” Olsen said.
