Donald Gibb, the actor best known for playing Ogre in the Revenge of the Nerds movies and Ray Jackson in Bloodsport, has died at the age of 71.
The news was confirmed by Gibb’s talent agent, Tina Presley-Borek. In a statement, Gibb’s children remembered him as a loving father, grandfather, friend and actor who cared deeply for his family, faith and fans.
They described him as someone with a “larger-than-life presence” both on and off screen, adding that his kindness and generosity touched many people throughout his life and career.
Gibb began acting in the early 1980s with small roles in films such as Conan the Barbarian and appearances on TV shows including The A-Team and Magnum, P.I.. He became widely recognized after starring as the intimidating but memorable fraternity brother Ogre in Revenge of the Nerds and later returned for several sequels.
He also gained a strong fan following through Bloodsport alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme. Following news of Gibb’s passing, Van Damme paid tribute on social media, writing, “Rest in peace, my brother.”

Over his career, Gibb appeared in nearly 100 film and television projects, including roles in The X-Files, Hancock and several video games. After stepping away from acting for a number of years, he recently returned to film work and had upcoming projects in development.
Gibb is survived by his children and extended family.
