Jane Fonda is remembering her ex-husband, Ted Turner, with a heartfelt tribute following news of his death at age 87.
In an emotional message shared after Turner’s passing, Fonda reflected on their decade-long marriage and the deep impact he had on her life. She described the CNN founder as a charismatic, adventurous and deeply romantic man who changed her forever from the moment they met.
Fonda said one of the most meaningful parts of their relationship was how emotionally open Turner could be. She explained that he made her feel needed, while also giving her a strong sense of support and protection. According to Fonda, that emotional honesty was one of his greatest strengths.
The actress also spoke about the many lessons Turner taught her over the years. Beyond his success in media, she remembered him as someone passionate about nature, conservation and learning. She said he introduced her to subjects like wildlife preservation, business strategy, fishing, hunting and environmental activism.
Fonda recalled that Turner studied history and military strategy closely, which helped shape his business instincts and competitive personality. She described him as someone who could often anticipate problems long before others recognized them.

She also touched on Turner’s strong competitive side, joking that he turned nearly everything into a challenge. Still, she said life with him was never boring, and she admired the ambitious way he approached both business and life.
Much of Fonda’s tribute focused on Turner’s environmental work. She praised his efforts to protect endangered species and preserve wildlife across the United States. In a touching moment, she imagined the many animals he helped save welcoming him “at the pearly gates” and thanking him for his conservation efforts.
Fonda also reflected on Turner’s family, calling his children talented and acknowledging the complexities of life inside such a famous family. She said they worked hard to create a loving environment together during their marriage.
She ended her tribute with a simple and emotional farewell, writing, “Rest in Peace, dearest Ted. You are loved and you will be remembered.”
