Actor Beau Starr, known for his roles in the Halloween films and numerous television and movie projects, has died at the age of 81.
According to his brother, actor Mike Starr, Beau passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 24 in Vancouver, Canada.
Mike remembered his brother as a unique and deeply influential presence in his life, sharing that Beau helped raise him and was greatly loved by family and friends.
Before entering acting, Starr spent time in professional football, including on the New York Jets practice squad and in the Canadian Football League. He later transitioned into entertainment, beginning his screen career on the comedy series Bizarre before making his film debut in Hanky Panky in 1982.
He became widely recognized for playing Sheriff Ben Meeker in Halloween 4 and Halloween 5, and also portrayed Henry Hill’s father in the acclaimed film Goodfellas. On television, he had a notable long-running role in the Canadian cr1me series Due South, appearing in 66 episodes.
Starr’s career included many additional film and television credits, such as Born on the Fourth of July, Speed, Cinderella Man, Wings, and T.J. Hooker.
He is remembered fondly by colleagues and fans alike, particularly for his appreciation of the Halloween fan community throughout his career.
