Actress Jennifer Runyon, known for her roles in Ghostbusters and the CBS sitcom Charles in Charge, has died at the age of 65.
Runyon’s family confirmed her passing in a social media post on Sunday, March 8. They shared that she died on Friday, March 6, after a long and difficult illness, surrounded by her loved ones.
“She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends,” the family wrote in their tribute.
Actress Erin Murphy, best known for Bewitched, also confirmed the news and revealed that Runyon had faced a brief battle with cancer. Murphy remembered her as a special and kind person and shared condolences with Runyon’s family.
Jennifer Runyon was born on April 1, 1960, in Chicago. She later married collegiate basketball coach Todd Corman, and the couple had two children together, a son, Wyatt, and a daughter, Bayley.
In 2014, Runyon shared that she had stepped back from acting and was working as a teacher.
Her daughter Bayley, an actress who has appeared in shows such as 9-1-1, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Jane the Virgin, posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, calling her mother the kindest and most compassionate person she had ever known.
Runyon began her film career in the 1980 horror movie To All a Good Night. She later appeared in films including Up the Creek and Ghostbusters (1984), where she played a student in a memorable scene with Bill Murray.
She also starred in the 1984 sitcom Charles in Charge and appeared in numerous television shows throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Her credits include The Fall Guy, Boone, The Master, Quantum Leap, Murd3r, She Wrote, A Man Called Sarge, and Beverly Hills, 90210.
Runyon also portrayed Cindy Brady in the television movie A Very Brady Christmas, taking over the role from Susan Olsen.
Jennifer Runyon will be remembered for her work in film and television, as well as for the kindness and warmth she showed to those around her.
