Donnie Wahlberg Confirms Blue Bloods Crossovers Are Coming to Boston Blue

Donnie Wahlberg has confirmed that familiar faces from Blue Bloods will appear in its spinoff, Boston Blue.

Speaking to Deadline at Cannes, Wahlberg revealed that while no Blue Bloods cast members were in the pilot, that’s already changing. He added that the spinoff could open the door to more stories in the same universe-and even his dream project: a Blue Bloods/Boston Blue feature film bringing everyone together.

After Blue Bloods ended last December following 14 seasons, Wahlberg said Boston Blue is a way to continue the show’s legacy. He explained that the spinoff will not only reintroduce familiar characters but also answer long-standing questions from the original series.

Boston Blue follows Danny Reagan as he joins the Boston PD, where he partners with Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. The series introduces the Silver family, a multigenerational law enforcement clan, while also exploring Danny’s effort to reconnect with his son, Sean.

Wahlberg said the pilot focuses on establishing the new setting, characters, and especially the bond between Danny and Lena. While the city has changed, he emphasized that the core themes that defined Blue Bloods-faith, family, and tradition-remain central.

With crossover appearances on the way and deep ties to the original series, fans are eager to see how Boston Blue carries the legacy forward.
