Bridget Moynahan Joins Donnie Wahlberg in Blue Bloods Spinoff Boston Blue: “Reunited and It Feels So Good”

Bridget Moynahan is officially reprising her role as Erin Reagan in the premiere of Donnie Wahlberg’s spinoff series, Boston Blue. CBS announced on July 18 that Moynahan will guest star in the first episode and direct later in the season.
Wahlberg celebrated the news with an Instagram selfie alongside Moynahan, captioned: “Reunited and it feels so good! So excited to have my dear friend, and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan, join me for the premiere of #BostonBlue. She’ll also be bringing her incredible directing talents to the show this season!” He added there are “more fun (and surprises) to come.”
Production began earlier this month, seven months after the Blue Bloods finale. On July 8, Wahlberg shared a photo from the first table read, tagging new costar Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays his partner Detective Lena Silver at the Boston PD.
The cast also includes Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Gloria Reuben, Ernie Hudson, and Mika Amonsen as Wahlberg’s on-screen son, Sean Reagan – replacing Andrew Terraciano from the original series.
Moynahan previously reflected on the emotional farewell to Blue Bloods, noting the bond with cast and crew: “We’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths – we’ve been through it all with each other.” She also praised Wahlberg as her “biggest supporter,” while he called her “phenomenal.”
